CARTER MOUNTAIN ORCHARD

In early July I had the pleasure of enjoying a girl's day trip literally up the mountain to pick peaches at Carter Mountain Orchard with one of my wonderful God-daughters and her mom/my college bestie.  I was all smiles especially knowing that my sweetheart made a special request for this one on one time with Aunt Tam Tam! So good - right?!

We appreciated the clear information on how to pick the peaches, pricing and the very important knowledge that a full bag is equivalent to 25 pounds which must be purchased if picked.  There's no changing your mind once you're at the register.  This is not the time or place to be on team too much or team overboard or team "I'm doing the most"... OK!

We decided to carefully select only the best peaches and to of course pick a reasonable amount.  During our time walking the rows, we chatted, took in the panoramic views and tried our best to breathe deeply.

The peaches were beautiful and abundant; memories of the experience will surely last for many years.

Before heading home, I took some time to peruse the gift shop which was filled with a wonderful selection of merchandise and a variety of edible treats including wine, ice cream and other peach flavored items.

If ever you find yourself in the Richmond or Charlottesville area with the need for something to do or if you already live in the area but have never visited the orchard, I highly recommend a trek up the mountain.  They even offer a pancake breakfast on the weekend!

Apple picking starts in late July and goes into the fall so the fun doesn't stop when the peaches run out.  For more information, visit their website here.

Until next time, I'll be growing good food at home and searching for new ways to experience Virginia.  How do you like to spend the lazy days of summer?
