PERSISTENCE

I've had my share of failures learning experiences since my journey in gardening began. As I'm working through a challenge that doesn't seem like it will end well, I can hear myself  saying part of that phrase we've all heard...  "Tis a lesson you should heed: try, try, try again. If at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again".  There's never a thought to just give up.  Rather, there exists a strong desire to find a better way.

In the garden, one week something could be going great and the next it could be a total disaster.  You can never tell how the elements will change the plans you've made. Nature is unpredictable and will not be controlled no matter how hard we try.  Even when you think you know what to do or how to do it, there's always more to be learned.  Often times we are forced to adjust and readjust constantly as we seek the perfect way to grow in our individual spaces.  We try different methods for trellising our vining fruits & veggies.  We are consistently seeking the best options for controlling pests, managing the water schedule, seed starting and on it goes.  There's always an experiment and there's always zest to keep searching for solutions.

The more we are challenged, the more we push forward.  Our love for growing and that unexplainable dedication to the process that keeps us try, try, trying no matter what obstacle we face is persistence gained from gardening.
