In the Garden, Talking 'bout the garden.... #3 (weekend edition)

So much exciting stuff happened this weekend! It was really too much happy for two days!!

It would take 20 paragraphs to go through all of this goodness. In an attempt to keep this short & sweet, I'll touch on the absolute high point! During a girl's weekend earlier this year, I was sharing updates on my garden obsession (as I often do) and a new venture was born. Cousin, aka, Penny aka Sylvia said she would love to have a garden in her backyard. We're talking several acres of land leading to a lake that once had a garden, pigs and horses on it. This is land passed down through generations and we are now reconnecting to a family's roots! For me, this is a major situation!!  During the trip, Cousin & I agreed that we would definitely get together and make this happen. Fast forward a month or so and we (Cousin, Michael - her husband, Gene - my husband and I) broke ground!!

Here's how it all went down. Sunday morning I got up early and finished a few projects at the house which included digging up some of those bearded irises and daisies that were taking over my front yard.  With tiller, flowers and yard tools in tow, Gene, Queen & I headed down the road. Upon arrival, we had a quick conversation about where the garden should go and decided that starting small would be a good idea. We all worked together to till the ground and start on removal of the grass. Over the next few weeks, we will continue to prepare the initial plot, put up some type of fencing (to keep out the deer) and decide what we want to grow. See pics below and stay tuned for more from "Two Sistahs and a Hoe"!
